The Lighter Side of Real Estate Part 6

# 10 - Alternative Housing.

The current real estate market is competitive leading some to consider alternative housing. How about a treehouse? Most buyers are looking for a three-bedroom, two-bath home but how about 80 rooms on 10 floors. The structure span several mature trees and took 19 years to complete. The home was so unusual that it became a tourist attraction until the Fire Marshal deemed it a public safety hazard. The owner listed the home for sale with a listing price of 1.5 million dollars in 2018. Much to the new owner's dismay, the structure burned to the ground in 15 minutes in 2019. The owner stated that he had no intentions of tearing the home down and had no idea what started the fire.

#9 - Ever thought of living in a Vintage home.

This is not an option in Tokyo. We revere historic homes in the US but in Tokyo when a home reaches the age of 30 years, the home is destroyed to make room for new construction. Buyer demand is off the charts and the desire is a modern lifestyle. This gives new meaning to remodeling.

# 8 - Need more space?

Are you feeling a little restricted in your current home? Need a little extra space to manage your lifestyle. How would like to live in a castle? This may seem to be out of the question however there are castles in France that can be purchased for about the same price as a three-bedroom, two-bath home in New York. You may have to rethink your priorities, but if finances are an issue there are homes available around the world that are affordable. Currently, there are homes available in Italy that are for sale for $1. This is not a typo. Some homes are available for One Dollar.

Check in next time as we continue to count down the 25 unusual but true real estate facts. I couldn’t make this stuff up.
